Election Day 2026!

On August 4th, the Republican and Democrat parties will be selecting their nominees for federal office (US Senate and US House of Representatives) for this year's elections.  Since Virginians do not register to vote by party, registered voters can select which primary they wish to vote in.

Early voting for the primaries begins on June 19, 2026, and as mentioned above primary day is Tuesday, August 4, 2026. All localities offer early voting. 

Like the general election, primary voters are only allowed to vote early in the jurisdiction in which they are registered.  Each locality in Virginia sets its own early voting location(s). Some jurisdictions offer early voting in locations other than the registrar’s office. Early voting for the Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, general election begins Friday, Sept. 18. The last day to vote early is October 31st .  In person voting hours are 6 am to 7 pm.  If you wish a mail-in ballot, you must apply at your local register's office or on line (follow the link below).  Mail in ballot applications must be received by 5 pm on Friday, October 23rd.

Generally the deadline for registration is three weeks before a general election and shorter for special elections to fill vacancies.  Registration is available through Friday, October 23, 2026 for this year's election.  Follow the link below for information on who is eligible to vote and how to file your registration or change of address.
