DULUTH, Ga. – On February 12, several law firms representing survivors of sexual abuse jointly filed a class-action lawsuit against Pornhub’s parent company, MindGeek. Entitled Doe #1 et al. v. MG Freesites LTD et al., the legal case alleges that MindGeek profited financially off of the dissemination of videos depicting the real-life sexual exploitation of minors. The lawsuit’s representative class members are two survivors of sexual abuse who discovered videos and images of their sexual abuse were circulating on Pornhub.
“It’s reprehensible that Pornhub allowed images and videos of child sexual abuse to be viewed on their platform. It’s even more reprehensible that they profited off of advertising revenue generated by those videos,” said Timothy Head, executive director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition. “Human trafficking, and especially child sex trafficking, are unconscionable evils, and the porn industry has a long history of benefiting from them. I applaud the courage of the survivors of sexual abuse who are coming forward against Pornhub. There must be consequences for MindGeek’s exploitation of sexual abuse for its own financial gain.”
Doe #1 et al. v. MG Freesites LTD et al. was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and will be litigated by an assembly of law firms specializing in commercial litigation and protecting survivors of sexual abuse. The lawsuit aims to eliminate once and for all the marketplace for child pornography and sexual exploitation created by MindGeek with Pornhub.
