Faith & Freedom Coalition Responds to Biden’s First Address to Congress, Praises GOP Response

DULUTH, Ga. – On April 28th, the eve of his 100th day in office, President Biden addressed a joint session of Congress for the first time. Rather than speaking to Congress about the pressing issues that are directly affecting the daily lives of American citizens, President Biden used this opportunity to pitch his recently announced American Families Plan, which focuses on education and childcare – and significantly expands the entitlement infrastructure. Biden also took time to highlight achievements like the coronavirus relief package and the United States’ leadership in climate change.

In response to the President’s address, Faith & Freedom Coalition Executive Director Tim Head commented, “What really matters right now are issues like reopening schools and getting Americans back to work. Instead of taking advantage of this opportunity to address America’s major concerns, President Biden focused on the radical politicized agenda of his political and financial supporters in which the role of government figured prominently, eclipsing the potential of our community, faith and private organizations. Our nation’s leader should be working on things that truly matter to the average American today, rather than issues like gun control and climate change, and we are concerned about the long term effects of the liberal expansion of entitlements under this administration, as well as the threats to religious freedom cropping up left and right under this administration.”

Tim continued, “Senator Tim Scott spoke for all Americans in his response when he called for an honest, unifying conversation about the current state of affairs; decried progressive insistence that America is a racist country; and pointed out the hypocrisy of so many Democrats who have repeatedly filibustered the policing reforms Biden is so quick to claim. We are grateful to Senator Scott for standing up to phony progressive fantasy and for reclaiming America’s identity as a unified, hopeful nation.”
