DULUTH, Ga. — Faith & Freedom Coalition Executive Director Tim Head released the following statement in support of the Tennessee Legislature’s passage of TN HB 784, the Alternatives to Incarceration Act, and TN HB 785, the Reentry Success Act of 2021.
“Tennessee continues to lead the effort to make our communities safer and enhance public confidence in our justice system. Taken together, Tennessee’s Reentry Success Act and the Alternatives to Incarceration Act prevent incarceration when it is unnecessary or counterproductive, rehabilitate people who are convicted of crimes, and promote successful reentry of ex-offenders. We want people to pay their debts and to be able to amend their lives. Those who do it, should be rewarded and restored. Thanks to the vision of Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Leaders Lamberth and Johnson, Senators Johnson, Stevens and Yager, and Representative Curcio, many Tennesseans will get a second chance, and their hard work will help strengthen families and communities, reduce recidivism, and provide a pathway to redemption for people who want to reform their lives.”
